money is a metaphor

What is money a metaphor for?  So much...

As a kid I knew that we were poor, but I never quite understood just how poor and how *scared* we were.

My poor mum worked 3 or 4 jobs to keep our heads above water, never seeming to earn quite enough to break even, no matter how hard she worked.

It is it any wonder that I went on to be a chronic over-worker?

What place does money have in your life?

Before you tell me that it's ok, or something that you're comfortable with, spend a day really listening.

How much do you hear around you?

'You can't have that, I'm not made of money' 'Money doesn't grow on trees you know'

What else?  How the pound is performing against the dollar, against the euro, how the market dives every time something slightly scary happens, like the value of money directly relates to how confident or frightened we feel.

What about conspicuous consumption?  How do you feel about the Kardashians, Kanye, anyone on the front cover of a tabloid magazine?  Rockstars doing coke and buying crazy things.

That guy down the road who has a bald spot, a paunch and a red sports car?

Judgments about money are ALL around you and you judge others on it every single day.

Money can be a metaphor for a midlife crisis, for someone being vacuous and vapid, for being shallow and talentless (and 'made of money'?).

It can also be a benchmark, a yardstick by which to judge yourself and beat yourself.

How much you earn directly relates to how you feel about yourself.

Women are woefully unprepared to ask for payrises; we don't ask because we don't think we have done enough, have performed well enough. In just the same way that men will apply for a job when they hit less than 50% of the competencies and women only when they can hit 80% or more, men demand money as a marker of respect.

Whereas women respectfully ask for more like Oliver with gruel.  Please, sir, can I have some more?

Think for a moment about the last time you had a really bad day...

Did you head out at lunch and buy yourself something fancy to eat because you 'deserved it' or wanted a 'pick me up'? Or head to the nearest Boots counter and buy a new mascara, a new lipstick or something 'useful', like yet another cheap shower gel that smells like fake mango?

Maybe you called the girls for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine own the way home so you could all let your hair down, shake the day off, de-stress.

Honey, I don't mean to judge, but if you abused anything else the way you abused money, we'd be having an intervention right about now.

In fact, fuck it, this IS your intervention!

Money is a metaphor for how you feel about yourself, how you value yourself, it's a salve and a poison all at once.

The way you think and feel about money is the way that you think and feel about EVERYTHING.

I was so sceptical about money mindset when I first started out on my self-development journey.  It sounded like woo-woo hippy bullshit.

It CAN be woo-woo hippy, but it's definitely NOT bullshit.

It's like a magic eye picture, you stare and look and don't get it and then all of a sudden WOAH.... and you see everything!

You see the connections, the lessons that you learned as a small child that you've stuck by even in the face of evidence to the contrary, even when you SAY that you want to earn more, have more, not struggle any more.

And yet here you are, back here in self-sabotage and struggle and stuck.

The way you do anything is the way that you do everything.

It's time to address the emotional relationship that you have with money and stop that destructive cycle once and for all.

Be able to ask for a pay rise without feeling like you're putting yourself on trial.
Hold ON to your money instead of spending it on crap.
Let go of the judgment around debt.

What is Creating Abundance and Wealth?

I created this programme as an entry in to the world of money mindset.  There is SO much more that we can and WILL create, but this is the place to start if you are new to the entire concept of an emotional relationship around money.

10 days of daily audio and journalling exercises, this is an immersion in to FINALLY taking control of your money.

But why abundance?

Abundance is different to money - it's about the feeling that there is enough, that there is plenty.  It is a positive emotion that complements and supports the work around money.

Nothing will feed the poverty of your own soul.

Feel abundant, feel happy and rich without worrying about money and it's amazing how everything else starts to fall into place.
