Time - the key to everything

A few days ago I was on a call with one of my favourite ladies S.  S has found her job, working as a teacher, becoming overloaded with more and more admin, responsibilities and stress.  The time she spends teaching seems to pale in comparison to the ‘extras’ that come with the job.

Sounds familiar, right?

Struggling with information overload?

It seems particularly relevant to talk about information overload in the run up to the UK referendum.  Whilst I know which way I am voting, the debate has been intense.  The campaigning has been relentless.  The ‘facts’ and figures and emotional responses have been flying about much like muck hitting the fan – in all directions and everyone gets caught by something flying around.  I don’t know about you but it’s left with a permanent nagging headache, much like a hectic day at work.

But this information overload happens to each of us on a daily basis...

Does the phrase ‘make time’ drive you as crazy as it does me?

It’s the one phrase that was likely to make me lose my temper more than any other.  I was exhausted, under pressure from all angles, I felt like nobody understood everything that I had to deal with and then ‘Well if it’s important you’ll have to make time’.

Sunday night blues.  The inevitable doom and gloom about returning to work to battle your inbox on Monday morning.  They happen to everyone from time to time, right?  The problem gets so much worse when you're suffering from burnout.

Tell me if any of this sounds familiar...

Burnout First Aid

I was so exhausted I fell down the stairs. Leg and arm bleeding I got up and walked it off. Later I sat in the toilets at work stuffing tissues straight into my eyes so the tears wouldn't fall and my colleagues wouldn't know I'd been crying at work again...
