What to do when someone you know is suffering from burnout.

Recently one of the amazing women in my community contacted me directly to ask for help.

She said

Thanks for all your awesome work. Do you have any quick tips for if you see someone else who is clearly suffering burnout. It's difficult when they do not accept help but are clearly very stressed.’

Why rituals have a place in your daily life

I recently spoke with a lady in my community, we’ll call her A.  She explained to me that she was chronically knackered between her demanding job, family life with a young child, trying to be healthy and giving back to her community.  Responsibilities and to do lists filled her waking hours and there weren’t that many non-waking hours (right, mums?).

I would love to say that the amount she had on her plate was extreme but that just isn’t the case.

To sleep perchance to dream aka how to get a good night's sleep

When was the last time you had a good night’s sleep?

Perhaps at the end of a big project, or maybe it was on the first day of your holiday when, frantic with work and things to sort out until the moment the plane took you relaxed in your seat drinking a gin and tonic and finally succumbed to the exhaustion and alcohol.

May that that single night of a deep sleep was enough to refresh and fortify you.

Chances are, that single night of sleep isn’t enough to make up for all the damage done in the weeks, months or even years running up to it...

There's more to self-care than bubble baths

There's more to self-care than bubble baths

It’s a phrase I have used dozens of times.  There is an assumption, often in style-led magazines, that self-care is limited to taking a little time out to pamper yourself (because you deserve it girl!).

Self-care is about more than a bath with Epsom salts although it’s a good place to start

Time - unlocking the truth

Time - unlocking the truth

In last week’s blog I challenged you to keep a short diary of how your time was spent each week.  This is something I was challenged to do during the height of my burnout and was aimed at rescheduling my time.

If you’ve already completed your time diary, read on.  Otherwise I would urge you to keep a diary, if not for a week then for a few days.  The findings will surprise you.
